New EP-1000 Series Permanent Magnet Plate Handling Lift Magnet System Offered

The New EP-1000 series of permanent magnets has been designed and introduced by Walker Magnetics to meet the applications required for handling plates in steel service centers, steel processing plants, fabricating shops, burning table operations, machining shops and welding ships. These patented magnets are used primarily for lifting steel plates.

This system is configured with two EP-1000 series magnets attached to a beam. They can be adjusted on the beam to accommodate the size of the plate being lifted. A range of plate sizes up to 5 feet wide by 10 feet long can be lifted. Plate thickness can range from 3/16 inches to 2 1/2 inches.

The operation is simple. A remote control IR unit, similar to your home TV unit, allows the operator to stand away from the material being lifted. When the load is ready to be lifted, the operator "turns on" the system with the push of a button. Since the EP-1000 series are permanent magnets, electricity is only required to activate the system "ON" and "OFF". There are No internal moving parts that can fail. Once the magnet is "ON", the electricity can be disconnected indefinitely without ANY interruption to the holding power. The EP-1000 also includes an interlock feature to prevent magnet de-energization when a steel plate or part is being lifted.

A variable power feature has also been incorporated into the control. This feature allows the operator to selectively adjust the control to have the system pick up a single plate from a stack and move it to another location.
