inspection, re-certification of your walker close-proximity lift magnet

CM, CER, WBM, NEO Lift Magnets

To get top lifting capability from your Walker Lift Magnet, you should have it factory inspected and RE-CERTIFIED by O.S. Walker once a year. Applies to ALL Walker Close-Proximity Magnets

why?...

To achieve the most effective lifting performance from your lifting magnet, the lifting surfaces must be clean, smooth, flat and free of rust and foreign materials. As you already know, you should clean the bottom-lifting surfaces of the magnet before each lift and also check these surfaces for nicks and burrs. While nicks and burrs do occur with normal usage, they can be easily removed with a flat file. However, over time when the flat contact area of the entire magnet's lifting surfaces become less than 90% of the total original lifting surface, the magnet should be taken out of service and returned to O.S. Walker to be reground and then tested for its breakaway force.

Have you checked the entire condition of the magnet's case, hoisting block, lifting arms, eyebolt, electrical components, operating handles/switches, and instruction and product safety labels lately? If not, this is another good reason to have your lifting magnet inspected and RE-CERTIFIED by O.S. Walker.

While at O.S. Walker, your magnet will be totally inspected and then tested to meet all the standards set forth by O.S. Walker and the requirements of the ASME B30.20 safety standard for close proximity operated lifting magnets. The testing will include energizing the magnet and pulling it away from a ground surface of a thick low-carbon steel plate. The breakaway force will be recorded on a certificate that will be returned to you with the magnet.
